Welcome to the online home of  The Hills Amateur Radio Group (Inc.)

The Hills Amateur Radio Group, affectionately known as HARG, is a club of enthusiasts who meet regularly to enjoy the hobby of Amateur Radio. Our club house is located in the hills east of Perth in Western Australia. We have members from all walks of life who share a common interest in the hobby of Amateur Radio and enjoy socialising as well as radio activities. The club call-sign is VK6AHR.

The Hills Amateur Radio Group was founded in 1983 with its primary objective being:

"to bring together Amateur Radio Operators Citizen Band Operators wishing to upgrade to Amateur Radio Status and Shortwave Listeners in the maintenance and furtherance of the amateur radio spirit"

By and large this is still the primary objective of the club. In practice, HARG has evolved into an organisation that provides a venue and structure for local amateurs to meet socially on a regular basis.

HARG meets twice each month, the second and the last Saturday of each month. The second Saturday is a social and activities day whilst the last Saturday of each month is a "formal" meeting (with talks). Meetings are held at the Paxhill Guide Hall on the corner of Sanderson and Brady Roads in Lesmurdie. Doors open at 1pm for 2pm meetings.
Visitors are always Welcome.

On this site, you'll find more information on our activities, meetings, talks, projects and photographs. If you'd like to become a member, there is a membership form you can complete.

We also use 145.525 MHz FM simplex for chatter.

HARG hosts a CW (morse code) tutor on 3.685 MHz. The transmitter runs 35 watts into a G5RV antenna. The tutor operates during the following times every day:

  • 6.30am to 8.30am local time (22:30 to 00:30 UTC)
  • 6.30pm to 8.30pm local time (10:30 to 12:30 UTC)

Signal reports to secretary@harg.org.au are welcome.

HARG also run a WX station and APRS Digipeater VK6AHR-3 on frequency 145.175 MHz (Please note this facility is in the early stages and does have a few teething problems)

Web page feedback, additions and corrections to webmaster@harg.org.au.
